Description: Flame Nebula. This nebula is the one of the easiest object to locate because it lies just 15' to east from 1,7 mag star Alnitak (Zeta Orionis). That also makes it difficult to observe from beyond the strong glare of Alnitak. Especially the slight western regions are always more or less in a blaze of distant Sun. There are four easily detachable areas bounded by dark lanes. The brightest parts are visible with direct vision but averted vision is needed to discern the whole complex at same time. The overall view is familiar from the pictures. Deepsky and UHC filters improves the view significantly, the latter is the better.
