Description: Kalojen M74 mainitaan usein vaikeimmaksi Messierkohteeksi. Itä-länsisuunnassa soikea ydin hallitsee näkymää 244-kertaisella suurennuksella. Vastapäivään kiertävät spiraalihaarat näkyvät heikosti syrjäsilmällä. Eteläinen haara on pohjoista selvästi selvärajaisempi.
