Description: Yksi vaikeimmista Messier-kohteista. Aluksi näkyvissä oli ainoastaan tähtimäinen ydin, jota ympäröi keskuspullistuma. Pitemmän tutkiskelun jälkeen alkoi paljastua spiraalirakennetta. Eteläinen spiraalihaara oli loppujen lopuksi melko helppo. Pohjoinen haara epäselvä ja diffuusi.
